The Islamabad Declaration refers to the joint statement issued at the conclusion of the 12th Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers, held in Islamabad on March 22-23, 2022. The declaration reaffirmed the commitment of OIC member states to unity, Islamic solidarity, and collective efforts in addressing the challenges faced by the Muslim Ummah.

The summit, hosted by Pakistan, emphasized cooperation in countering Islamophobia, terrorism, poverty, climate change, and regional conflicts, especially in Palestine, Kashmir, and Afghanistan. The declaration supported the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, condemned human rights violations, and urged peaceful resolution of the conflict per UN Security Council Resolutions.

It also recognized the rising threat of Islamophobia, especially in the West, and endorsed the appointment of a Special Envoy of the OIC on Islamophobia. The declaration highlighted the role of science, technology, and economic integration in uplifting Muslim societies.

The Islamabad Declaration reflected Pakistan’s active role in the OIC and reaffirmed its diplomatic stance on regional and global issues. It aimed at enhancing Muslim unity, promoting peaceful coexistence, and addressing the socio-political and economic concerns of Islamic nations.
